Authorities Locate Missing Persons in Hillsborough County, Florida
With SafetyNet Tracking™ Service

In late August and early September, Hillsborough County, Florida authorities located two missing persons with cognitive conditions using the SafetyNet Tracking™ system

In the first case, a 75-year-old woman with Alzheimer’s was reported missing in Brandon, Florida on Aug. 22 at 5:30 P.M. Officers from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrived on location and began searching for the individual. After following the signal emitting from the missing individual’s SafetyNet bracelet, the individual was located at 6:10 P.M.,  approximately 11 minutes after deployment of deputies and the SafetyNet Tracking equipment and was found in good condition.

In the second case, an 80-year-old man with Alzheimer’s and diabetes was reported missing in Tampa, Florida on Sept. 10 at 12:58 P.M. Officers from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrived on location and began searching for the individual. After following the signal emitting from the missing individual’s SafetyNet bracelet, the individual was located at 1:32 P.M., approximately 12 minutes after deployment of deputies and the SafetyNet Tracking equipment and was also found to be in good condition.

The Sheriff’s Office used  deputies on the ground and its aviation unit, both trained in using the SafetyNet Tracking system  in these rescues.

The SafetyNet Tracking system is designed to assist public safety agencies in locating persons who have cognitive conditions and have wandered off and are missing. SafetyNet Tracking clients wear a SafetyNet Tracking bracelet that emits a radio frequency signal, which can be tracked by local public safety officials via their SafetyNet Tracking Search and Rescue Receivers.
