Missing Person With Alzheimer’s Located 1.5 Miles Away from Home in Less Than One Hour by Miami-Dade Police Department Using SafetyNet Tracking System

Late last week, an  84-year-old man who suffers from Alzheimer’s was located by the Miami-Dade Police Department using SafetyNet Tracking tracking equipment.  The Miami resident went missing from his home and was located less than one hour after the search began. Detectives with the Miami-Dade Police Department followed the signal emitting from the subject’s SafetyNet bracelet and located the missing person at approximately 9:30 p.m. near a Publix shopping center at the corner of SW 104 St. and Hammocks Blvd. The 84-year-old, who was located in good condition, had wandered one and half miles away from his residence.

The SafetyNet Tracking service enables public safety agencies to more quickly find and rescue individuals with cognitive conditions who are prone to wandering and becoming lost.  The service is comprised of a SafetyNet Bracelet worn by a client that emits Radio Frequency signals, which can be tracked by local public safety officials via their SafetyNet Search and Rescue Receivers.

In the greater Miami area, SafetyNet Tracking is available to residents in Miami-Dade, Miami, Hialeah and Coral Gables.  For more information on the SafetyNet Tracking service, please contact (877) 4-FINDTHEM (877-434-6384), visit safetynettracking.com or follow SafetyNet on Twitter or Facebook.
